Huíla in the Spotlight: The Potential of one of the Most Complete Destinations in Angola
The province of Huíla has once again taken center stage in the tourism sector with the holding of another session of the program “Let’s Get to Know Angola”, promoted by Hoteisangola.com. The meeting brought together tour operators, travel agents, public entities, and hotel units, with the aim of strengthening the promotion and structuring of the destination.
Huíla stands out for the diversity of its offerings: from iconic natural landscapes such as the Serra da Leba and the Tundavala, to cultural experiences with local communities and adventure activities. This combination positions the province as one of the most complete destinations in Angola.
Despite its strong potential, important challenges were identified, such as the need to improve access routes, strengthen training in the sector, and better structure tourism products. Even so, several initiatives are underway, including the creation of itineraries, tourist signage, and operator training.
One of the highlights was the presentation of the Mumba Lodge, an example of nature-based tourism and immersive experience, reinforcing the growing demand for distinctive tourism products.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of integrating Huíla with other regions, such as Namibe and Cubango, creating more complete and attractive itineraries for the market.
Huíla does not need more potential — it needs organization, promotion, and stronger connections between tourism stakeholders.
The structure is located at the entrance to the village of Humpata, very close to the old colonial road that connected the Huíla plateau to other towns in the region.

The Bicuar National Park, was established as a game reserve in 1938 and transformed into a national park in 1964 with the aim of preserving the existing species in the area among which they stand out: elephants, lions, sable, buffalo etc. It has an extension of 1,200Km² and is limited by the Chicusse, Cunene, Cusso, Cussava and Chissanda rivers.
