Bar of Kwanza

In Bar of Kwanza is the mouth of the Kwanza, where the Cuanza River, the largest Angolan river, flows downstream into the Atlantic Ocean, 75 km south of Luanda.

One of the geographical references in the province of Luanda, the city of Barra do Kwanza is an ideal place for sport fishing, offering hotels, restaurants and other leisure infrastructure.

This point, in a setting of great natural beauty, with deserted river and sea beaches, marks one of the entrances to the Quissama National Park.
The huge mouth of the Kwanza that swallows the sea was the gateway for the Portuguese into the northern interior of Angola, in the 16th century.

This way they climbed, little by little, taking advantage of the 258 km of navigable length of this freshwater road.
They entered there, piercing the kingdoms on these banks and founding Dondo or the fortress of Massangano.
