Benguela is one of Angola's 21 provinces, located in the central region of the country. Its capital is the city and municipality of Benguela.
According to the 2018 population projections prepared by the National Institute of Statistics, it has:
Population: 2,597,638 people;
Women: 1,351,465 (52%);
Men: 1,246,173 (48%);
Urban population: more than 1.5 million inhabitants (59.5%);
Rural population: around 1 million inhabitants (40.5%);
Population density: 66.3 people per square kilometre, in an area of 39,155.3 km².

The province is made up of the following municipalities: Baía Farta, Balombo, Benguela, Bocoio, Caimbambo, Catumbela, Navegantes, Chongoroi, Cubal, Ganda, Lobito, Chicuma, Babera, Egipto-Praia, Biópio, Chila, Chindumbo, Capupa, Yambala, Dombe Grande, Canhamela, Catengue and Bolonguera.
