Restinga of Lobito

It forms the bay of Lobito and houses part of the city of Lobito, in the province of Benguela.

About 10km long, Ponta da Restinga stretches from Colina da Saudade to Farol do Ponto Final. Their opposite coastal strips are 200 to 300 meters apart.
Ponta da Restinga is densely populated and its territory is highly valued for real estate and tourism purposes. It serves as a residence for the upper middle class of the city of Lobito.

The sand bank that forms the Restinga de Lobito began to appear in the 17th century (17), due to silting caused by the tides.
Its growth was halted in the 20th century (20), with the construction of jetties, preventing the Lobito Bay, essential for the Port of Lobito, would close to navigation.
The Restinga de Lobito is a true postcard of the region, with its beaches and the cooing of the sea among the casuarina trees.
Just as Ilha do Cabo is for Luanda, the Restinga is for Lobito. It is a place that holds memories, history and natural beauty, being an essential part of the city.
