Egyptian Praia Cemetery

The Egipto Praia Cemetery is one of the most unique memorial sites on the northern coast of Benguela. The municipality of Egipto Praia extends northwest of the center of Lobito, in a transition between coastal cliffs and the alluvial plains of Balombo. The cemetery is located in the historic center of the town. The site's value lies both in its antiquity and continuity of use and in its ability to tell the local story: settlement cycles, maritime routes, religious practices, and the construction of community identity.

Local accounts point to the cemetery as the site of the graves of the first inhabitants who settled in the region.
