Our Lady of the Rosary Church

The name passed to Missão do Bocoio, becoming Nossa Senhora do Rosário.
At the request of local Catholics, Dom Daniel Gomes Junqueira created a parish with the provision of June 21, 1958 and appointed Father Isidro Mendes as its first parish priest, followed by Father Timóteo Xavier Elias Prazeres, both Goans.

The first Angolan to take charge of the parish was Father Ambrósio João Dimas. Due to the armed conflict, assistance was interrupted, but resumed in 1991 with the appointment of Father Ezequiel Faria as parish administrator, who was later replaced by Father Ernesto Hamuyela.

Currently the community is assisted by priests André Dias with Father Francisco Ficara as parochial vicar and a community of Sisters Daughters of the Virgin of Sorrows led by Sister Celestina Ngonga.
