A word of recognition to Minister Ângela Bragança

At a time when tributes are multiplying in Angola, it is fair in our opinion that the tourism sector also extends a word of recognition to a woman who marked, silently but firmly, an important stage in the recent history of our tourism.

We talk about Minister Ângela Bragança, who, upon arriving at the Angolan tourism family, knew how to listen, unite and inspire.

At a time when the Ministry's budget was reduced and working conditions were extremely limited, the then Minister did not hide behind difficulties: she opened the doors of her office, spoke with operators, valued local knowledge and made the Ministry a space for listening and sharing.

It was under his leadership that many professionals and businesspeople felt, perhaps for the first time, that the Ministry of Tourism belonged to them too and that there was space to exchange ideas, propose solutions and, above all, feel part of a common project. An example of this is the open dialogue format of the sector's Advisory Council held in the city of Sumbe.

Even today we remember his official visit to the province of Benguela, a moment that remains engraved in the memory of local operators. After listening carefully to the concerns and suggestions of businesspeople, the Minister opened a notebook, full of handwritten pages, with possible questions and ideas about the sector. The most notable thing was the fact that those notes were written by the minister herself, in a rare gesture of dedication and personal involvement.
At that same meeting, with the humility that has always characterized her, Minister Ângela Bragança recognized that she did not come from the hotel industry, but from diplomacy. And, therefore, he asked the operators to send him all the difficulties, challenges and concerns in the sector, so that, based on this information, he could better understand the reality and help find solutions. It was a moment of sincerity and respect that marked everyone present, because it showed a leader who knew how to listen before acting.

Minister Ângela Bragança's stance was, and continues to be, an example of participatory and aggregating leadership.
She was someone who, even with few means, valued the most important thing: people. Operators, technicians, guides, entrepreneurs, all had, during their mandate, a space for voice and respect.

For this reason, today, we would like to publicly thank Minister Ângela Bragança, for the serene, humble and determined way in which she led the Tourism department, leaving a legacy of closeness and unity that continues to inspire many of us.

Angolan tourism needs more leaders like this: who listen, who value and who build with those on the ground.
