Last May 12, 2025, the city of Lubango, in the province of Huila, was the scene of a strategic meeting with the presence of the Ethiopian Airlines airline's marketing team, which moved to the region to evaluate passenger traffic potential and explore new opportunities for regional and international air connection.
This initiative is part of the SGA-SA (Airport Management Society) Strategic Plan for the capture of new airlines and increasing airport traffic flow under its management, particularly at Mukanka International Airport, which set the stage for this important moment.
During the visit, held on May 12 and 13, the Ethiopian Airlines delegation had the opportunity to closely observe the provincial's tourist, commercial and business dynamics, with special attention to local demand for air transport services, an essential factor for the definition of new international routes and connections.
The meeting on the 12th, held at 4 pm at Mukanka airport, was attended by representatives of the Provincial Culture and Tourism Office of Huila, as well as travel agencies and local tourist operators, in an environment of dialogue and collaboration.
The event had as its main objectives:
Submit to Ethiopian Airlines the potential of Huila as a tourist and business destination
facilitate direct contact with the main operators of the sector in the region
reinforce the province's position on the map of future African aerial routes
The presence of Ethiopian Airlines demonstrates a strong interest in the diversification of destinations in Angola, and represents a concrete opportunity to reinforce the links between Huila, the African continent and the rest of the world.
We thank all the institutional partners, operators and participants who contributed to the success of this important step towards a more connected, affordable and competitive human in the tourism and aviation sector.
From the 17th to the 19th of June 2026, Luanda will become the African capital of investment in tourism, by hosting the Angola Investment Summit, announced the Ministry of Tourism.
