Nicolas e Maé - Relatos de uma aventura em terras angolanas

Lumbala \ Lufuige \ Zambia

The sand trail is about 80 km long and very slow. We did 10-15km/h. A local told us that we should stay in the side lanes because the main lane is for the big 6x6 trucks and Unimogs that drive around.
We, the treadmills, are in fact for the wheelbase of a truck and not for our tiny 4x4, as you can see in the photos.
The last section to the Zambezi River is still slow, with many deep pools.
The ferry looks new and we paid 15,000 Kwanza for the crossing.
In the Chef's Notebook we saw that the price varies between 10,000 and 15,000 Kwanzas. We probably paid 15 thousand because the ferry had to come from the other side of the river to pick us up.
From Lumbala to the border it is another 50 km of slow motion, with many deep puddles and some precarious bridges that we would not cross with vehicles weighing more than 5 tons.
In Lufuige the bridge is completely collapsing and we have to cross the river which was knee-deep when we crossed it.
Overall, it was a beautiful adventure and we're glad we did it.
Thank you very much Alfredo Viegas for the encouragement and for all the information you provided us!
I hope this helps with your future travels from Angola to Zambia.
