Bridge over the Keve River

This bridge ensures the crossing of the Keve River (also known as the Cuvo River), one of the largest rivers in the country, playing a fundamental role in connecting various localities and in the economic development of the region.
The Keve River originates in Angola’s Central Plateau and flows for hundreds of kilometres before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. Along its course, it passes through areas of great ecological, agricultural, and tourism importance, making the existence of a safe and modern bridge indispensable for the movement of people and goods.
The construction of the new bridge arose from the need to replace a previous structure and improve mobility conditions between the city of Sumbe and the municipality of Porto Amboim. Due to the river’s strong flow, the works required complex engineering solutions, including temporary diversions of the watercourse to allow the construction of the foundations.
The bridge is approximately 200 metres long and was designed to support road traffic in a more efficient and safer manner.

In addition to its importance for transportation, the bridge offers a privileged view of the Keve River and the surrounding landscape. The combination of the imposing engineering structure and the natural beauty of the river transforms the site into a point of interest for visitors, photographers, and nature lovers. Crossing the Keve River also represents a symbol of the effort to reconstruct and modernise Angolan infrastructure, contributing to regional integration, the distribution of agricultural production, and the strengthening of connections between the coast and the interior of the country.
