Tocota Thermal Waters

The warm waters of the Conda, in Tocota (Conda Municipality, Kwanza Sul Province), are one of the most unique natural treasures in the region.

Amid green hills and rural trails, the thermal springs form natural pools where the water emerges at high temperatures, inviting relaxation and direct contact with nature.

You can visit all year round, with more stable weather between May and September (dry season). Visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon for milder temperatures and softer light.
Although it does not have the same infrastructure as other tourist destinations, the place offers a unique experience, with hot waters that emerge naturally and a setting of dense vegetation.
It has a spring that gushes hot water at a temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius, and the year of its discovery is unknown, but it was attributed to the hunter Candjosso.
When the colonial authorities learned of the existence of that hot water spring, they built a swimming pool that takes two hours to fill from the channel connected to the spring. Since 1968, the pool has been the only structure built on site.

A small tank receives water coming from inside Dragon Mountain. The mythical being releases it, like fire, from the depths of the hill, at exactly 43.2 degrees in temperature.
Without boiling, but quite hot, the elders say — and doctors confirm — that these waters cure various aches. The Tocota hot springs, also known as the hot waters of Conda, are a remedy for rheumatism and skin infections.
And, perhaps because they function as a good hot bath, the kind that leaves the body relaxed after a day’s work, they also relieve stress.
Apparently simple, the place, officially known as the Tocota Tourist Center, has enormous tourism potential.
The landscape confirms it.
Dragon Mountain has a beauty that is very characteristic of this region, with dense vegetation that in some places almost swallows the road and filters the sunlight. Do not be misled by the appearance of the place — set out on an adventure.
