Leba Viewpoint

Serra da Leba is one of those unique cases, the absolute beauty of this place marks Serra da Leba as one of the great postcards of the entire country.
The Serra da Leba separates the Provinces of Huíla and Namíbe, presenting itself to those looking from above as a gigantic lap, with the zigzag road drawn on a velvety slope.
It is approximately 20 km attenuated by slopes of medium lows, requiring more than 30 minutes to overcome the 1000 m difference in level that separates the crests of Nthandavala (Tundavala) from the Namíbe floor.

The beautiful landscape that Leba offers is splendid and stunning, in which we can observe a waterfall, where a permanent river that originates in the Municipality of Humpata falls into other small falls.
After descending or climbing the mountain along the Leba road, you arrive at the house with your eyes full of the wonders of creation, which is a combination of nature and human work with the promise of one day returning there.
This hymn to engineering began to be built during colonial times, in the late 1960s. But the work began to be thought of almost four decades earlier, at the time of the consolidation of Portuguese power in the south of Angola.

The idea of building a road that facilitated the transport of food, troops and essential goods between the center and south of the country came from General Pereira de Eça.
The same man who gave its name to Ondjiva administered by the Portuguese. It still serves as a bridge between Huíla and Namibe today. To get a real idea of the slope, if we draw a straight line between the starting point and the ending point of the Serra da Leba road, we reach a mere 100 meters!

The best place to appreciate the snake that descends the mountain is the Leba viewpoint, from where you can perfectly see this joint and perfect action between man and nature.
