Estrada Nacional 100: An Obstacle for Tourism in the Southern Region during the festive season

During the festive season, the southern region of Angola sees a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the area to celebrate the festive period

However, the condition of the EN-100 between Vale Guerra and Culango may make access to these important tourist destinations difficult, such as the provinces of Benguela, Huila and Namibe
This could lead to a decrease in the number of visitors, negatively impacting the local economy and the much-identified need to raise revenue.

National Road 100 (EN-100), which crosses Angola from north to south, is one of the main roads and one of the busiest, connecting Cabinda to Moçâmedes

However, the stretch between Vale Guerra and Culango has faced significant challenges that threaten tourism in the southern region of Angola, especially during the festive season.
The EN-100 is a road that faces many maintenance problems every year, and a few years ago it underwent intervention from Luanda to Lobito, but this specific section was not intervened.

The problems are evident as soon as we leave the province of Cuanza Sul and enter the province of Benguela.

• Signed road
• Mostly the ditches and grass on the verges were cut

Vale Guerra \ Canjala \ Culango section, we started to find it;

• a road without signs
• a potholed road where ditches cut across the asphalt
• bush occupies the entire shoulder and part of the road
• danger is a constant with existing traffic and attempts to escape potholes
• the average speed for a national road is too low for the section of a national road

The EN-100 is a crucial route for tourism and the economy of the southern region of Angola
