Colonial Cemetery

The Old Cemetery is a burial cemetery located near the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes and Praia do Capim, in the Tômbwa area.

There are references to an old cemetery in the Tômbwa area which, in recent times, has been progressively invaded by desert sand, even covering parts of the graves and walls.
The phenomenon of advancing sand has been intense enough that “the desert has already taken over the cemetery,” indicating that some of the burials or tombs may already be buried or partially lost.
