The Carumbo lagoon is located in Lunda-Norte
It is the habitat of 338 species of plants and 195 species of birds seen in that location, of which 13 are rare, and 07 are unknown in Angola.
also known as Lagoa Nakarumbo and Karumbo, the waters of the Luxiko River flow slowly over the lagoon, providing a very pleasant view for everyone who travels to that location.
Legend has it that on a cold night, an elderly lady, named Karumbo, who was passing through the village where the lagoon is today, asked for hospitality and no one agreed, except for one villager.
In the morning the elderly woman recommended leaving the place, as she had cursed the village and was going to turn it into a lagoon.
This is how the lagoon got its name.
