The Luachimo Hydroelectric Plant, in Lunda-Norte, comes into operation with a new hydraulic and central circuit with 34 megawatts of power to supply electricity to the city of Dundo and nearby mining areas.
The work consisted of the rehabilitation of the existing enterprise and its increase in terms of electrical energy production capacity to meet the needs of Lunda-Norte.
The aforementioned project, according to the document, had an execution period of 87 months, having created 1000 direct jobs, covering a population of around 10,000 families.
The Luachimo dam was built in the 50s, to supply energy electricity to the city of Dundo and nearby mining areas, and currently has a new circuit.
According to the note, following the mission to the East of the country, the head of the Energy and Water sector will witness the act of consignment and laying of the stone for the construction project of the 86 kilometer line of the Dundo and Nzagi Corridor.
This is a project that arises within the scope of the objectives defined by the Angolan Executive, aiming to guarantee the population's access to electricity and improve social conditions, as well as developing the agricultural and livestock and mining sectors.
