Minister considers Zaire province to be a pillar of sustainability for cultural tourism
Soyo - The Minister of Hotels and Tourism, Pedro Mutinde, stated today (Thursday), in the city of Soyo (Zaire) that the sector's master plan gives the province the category of pillar of sustainability for cultural tourism, given its potential in this field.
When speaking at the opening ceremony of the VI expanded Consultative Council of the Ministry, Pedro Mutinde highlighted that within the framework of the strategic program of his department, cultural tourism constitutes one of the main priorities.
The head of Hotel and Tourism understands that the culture of the Angolan people is the essence of the country's comprehensive development policy for the tourism sector.
Based on this, the minister recalled that efforts are being undertaken by the Angolan executive to ensure that the city of Mbanza Congo, capital of the province of Zaire and the former Kingdom of Congo, is inscribed on the list of cultural heritage of humanity.

If this happens, according to Pedro Mutinde, it will constitute a clear recognition of the importance of the country's history and historical and cultural legacy in the context of the nations and peoples of the world.
“ For this reason, our ministry stands in solidarity with other institutions for the work they are doing to elevate Mbanza-Congo to a UNESCO world heritage site”, he pointed out.
The governor highlighted the role of Zaire's provincial authorities in promoting the Hotel and Tourism sector, through programs and policies to expand the sector, involving public and private initiatives.

The provincial governor of Zaire, José Joanes André, when thanking the region for being chosen to host the event, reiterated the local government's commitment to continuing to contribute to the development of the Hotel and Tourism sector in the region.
Participating in the meeting, which will last three days, are secretaries of state for the sector, national and provincial directors, technicians and professionals linked to tourism.
The meeting is reviewing activities developed in recent years, as well as looking at new lines of action for promoting the Hospitality and Tourism Industry in the country.
