Joint initiative of AAVOTA, AAVA and AAAV associations
Hoteisangola.com stands in solidarity with travel agencies and warns of the impacts of TAAG flight cancellations and delays on the hotel industry
STATEMENT
Hoteisangola.com expresses its solidarity with the joint initiative of the associations AAVOTA, AAVA and AAAV, which have called a press conference for
1 October 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Hotel Fórum, in Luanda, to address TAAG flight cancellations, the impacts on passengers and the difficulties caused to travel agencies.
The concerns raised by the associations also extend to other stakeholders in the sector.
Hotels are also affected by successive flight cancellations, delays and changes, which compromise bookings, shorten stays, make service organisation more difficult and result in revenue losses.
The impacts extend across the entire tourism chain
A room reserved for a passenger who is unable to arrive, a shortened stay or a group that cancels its trip represent concrete losses for hotels.
Even when the guest does not arrive, hotels still maintain staff, services and operating costs, often without the possibility of recovering the expected revenue.
The effects are also felt in transfer services, restaurants, tourism experiences and previously contracted activities.
A change in air transport can jeopardise an entire travel programme and affect the customer's confidence in the destination.
Tourism requires commitments to be honoured
For tourism to function, all stakeholders need to deliver the service that was planned, contracted and sold to the customer. Promotion efforts, business investment and the work involved in organising a trip depend on reliable air connections and an effective response when unforeseen circumstances arise.
We recognise that air operations may face exceptional situations and that safety must always be the priority.
However, the recurrence of these difficulties requires concrete responses, timely communication and better coordination between the airline, travel agencies, hotels and other service providers.
A call for predictability and dialogue
In this regard, Hoteisangola.com considers it essential for TAAG to strengthen the predictability of its operations, provide clear information about changes and cancellations, and develop effective mechanisms for passenger assistance and rebooking, seeking to reduce the impacts on the entire tourism chain.
By joining this call for attention, Hoteisangola.com advocates that the losses and concerns of the hotel industry should also be taken into account in the dialogue on air transport in Angola.
Confidence in Angolan tourism is built through services that work, commitments that are honoured and shared responsibility.
It is in this spirit that we stand in solidarity with this initiative by the travel agency associations and call for dialogue focused on concrete solutions and measurable improvements.
