Remember that many historical contents disappear and others are sometimes located abroad, due to the lack of infrastructure capable of storing documents and other historical writings from the country and beyond.

“ The province of Huíla does not have a historical archive with accumulated documentation available for students, researchers and people interested in knowing the history of Angola, and especially the people of the southern region, to consult,” he highlighted.

Maria Marcelina Gomes explained that, as a result of this, several government documents and documents from other institutions are destroyed due to lack of space or even negligence, which is why the culture department has been calling for better conservation of archives, whether printed documents and digital media.

However, he said the construction of cultural buildings that will also serve to preserve national archives is in the pipeline, as the government has already identified the values and areas where the structures will be built.

The seminar is covering topics related to the concept of archivist, typology and users, typology of document preservation entities, as well as the definition of the archive, its functions and organization.

The life cycle of documents and files, their functioning and requirements, arrangement of material and collection, document production and collection, transfer and incorporation, evaluation, definition, principles and objectives are among other issues to be addressed at the event .

The agenda also includes approaches to documentation, evaluation and evaluation criteria, the concept of organization and the principles of territorial provenance and the conception of the organization plan, conservation policies and access to documents.
