João Lopes recognizes that in recent times there has been an emergence of the tourism sector, with the search for places and sites by internal and external tourists.
In his opinion, this sector is not yet capable of meeting large demands.

“If we speak in a very pragmatic way, tourism has been evolving, we have seen some greater demand in the South of Angola, internal tourism itself has increasingly seen an improvement but now, our big problem at the level of Angola , it’s the structuring of tourism (…) we don’t have a regular offer” he said.For the person responsible for this organization of tour operators in the province of Huíla, the indication of the country as one of the 28 tourist destinations to be visited this year must be understood from two perspectives, as it is a gesture that makes Angola's name come the spotlight.

The province of Huíla is one of the places that can be visited and that can include the provinces of Namibe and Cunene, taking into account their scenic and cultural riches in this southern region of Angola.

For João Lopes, this southern region of the country has already shown more than enough proof that it has very rich potential, but priorities need to be established to leverage this sector. “This election was a click that makes Angola’s name come to light, we will be the target of many visits, but I ask; Are we prepared to receive this volume of tourists?

We have in the southern region, namely Lubango because of the mumuílas, Cunene because of the Himbas and Namibe we have the desert, and we have beautiful beaches.

We have a very large tourist potential, but we have almost zero investment, in terms of practical conditions for receiving tourists, just look at the Government's strategy, tourism is not a priority, because it is not included in one of the packages to support the development of the economy” he stated.
