Tourist arrivals in the country reach record in 2013

In the year in question, the flow of tourist arrivals at national borders reached the figure of 650 thousand, indicating a significant increase of 23%, or more than 121 thousand compared to 2012.

Regarding the increase in tourist arrivals at national borders, in 2013 there was a growth of 23.1%, that is, 13.3% more compared to 2012, coming from Africa, America, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.

According to the bulletin, demand for international tourism was strongest for destinations in Asia and the Pacific (+6%), the same percentage in Africa, Europe (+5%) and the main sub-regions were Southeast Asia (+10%), Central and Eastern Europe (+7%), Southern and Mediterranean Europe and North Africa (+6%).

The tourism sector has shown a remarkable ability to adapt to new market conditions, fueling growth and job creation around the world, despite persistent economic and geopolitical challenges, the document states.
