Hoteisangola.com hosts strategic meeting in Lubango under the “Let’s Get to Know Angola” program

Lubango, Huíla – The “Let’s Get to Know Angola” program, promoted by Hoteisangola.com in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of Tourism of Huíla, brought together today, in the meeting room of Hotel Chik Chik, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and tour guides, in a working session marked by a dynamic, critical, and solution-oriented approach.

The meeting was also attended by HOTOUR – Association of Tourism Promoters and Operators – and the Provincial Directorate of Tourism, led by Tiago Pinto, reinforcing the institutional and collaborative nature of the initiative.

Direct dialogue and identification of challenges

The discussion took place in an open and incisive manner, and several structural and operational challenges that still constrain the full development of the Huíla destination were identified. Among the main points discussed were:

  • The need for greater coordination between guides, hotel units, tour operators, and the restaurant sector
  • The lack of structured information about the services provided by tour guides
  • The importance of creating integrated packages that enhance complete and differentiated experiences

It became clear that the sustainable growth of the destination depends on mutual understanding among the various stakeholders in the sector: guides need to better understand the hotel reality, hotels should integrate guide itineraries into their commercial strategy, and the restaurant sector must align with the dynamics of the tourism offer.

Guides commit to organization and structuring

One of the central moments of the meeting was the intervention of the tour guides present, who represent a significant diversity of offerings:

  • Guides specialized in trails and nature routes
  • Guides operating interprovincial itineraries
  • Guides dedicated to community-based experiences and interaction with local tribes

It was unanimously recognized that there is still limited formal promotion of the work carried out by these professionals. In this regard, the guides committed to organizing themselves in a more structured manner, identifying routes, challenges, and concrete implementation proposals.

It was agreed that around March 20, a new meeting will be held exclusively dedicated to presenting the results of this work, with the objective of:

  • Officially cataloging guides and their respective itineraries
  • Identifying mechanisms for formalization and recognition
  • Integrating this information into a digital promotion platform

The intention is for these professionals to be properly identified and organized, with their tourism products available on a platform accessible to the public, travel agents, and tour operators.

Special packages for June and July

The hotel units present also committed to developing special promotional packages for the months of June and July, creating a coordinated communication campaign focused on the province of Huíla.

The objective is clear:

  • Strengthen the promotion of the destination
  • Increase occupancy rates
  • Stimulate the consumption of complementary services beyond accommodation and catering

This integrated strategy aims to position Huíla as a structured, competitive destination with a diversified offer, leveraging natural, cultural, and community resources.

A firm step in consolidating the Huíla destination

The “Let’s Get to Know Angola” program thus reaffirms itself as a platform for boosting national tourism, promoting dialogue among the different stakeholders in the sector and encouraging the creation of practical and collaborative solutions, with the first presentation scheduled for March 17 via the Zoom platform.

The meeting held in Lubango demonstrates that there is willingness, commitment, and strategic awareness among local operators. The next step will be to transform this alignment into measurable results capable of consolidating Huíla as one of the leading destinations in southern Angola.
