BIMBE Catholic Mission – Our Lady of the Annunciation - Currently called Janjo, geographically it is located to the north of Huambo Province in the Municipality of Bailundo, 75 km from the municipal seat, in the Commune of Luvemba, and 50 km from the provincial capital, bordering Kwanza-Sul. Passing through Alto-Hama, it is about 95 km from the municipal seat of Bailundo. Due to the distance that Christians traveled to reach the Bailundo Mission to fulfill their duties, there was a need to establish a new mission.
Mount Luvili - This monolith is considered one of the largest in the world, often referred to as the second largest, behind only Mount Augustus in Australia. Morro Luvili, also known as Mount Luvili or Lubiri, is an impressive monolith located in the commune of Alto Hama, municipality of Londuimbali, in Huambo Province, Angola. With an approximate altitude of 2,000 meters, it stands out for its imposing presence and geological uniqueness.
Hot Springs – Alto Hama - The hot springs are located in the Municipality of Londuimbali, specifically in the commune of Alto Hama. The Alto Hama Hot Springs, located in Londuimbali municipality, Huambo Province, Angola, are a thermal spring known for their therapeutic properties. During the colonial period, this site was recognized as a thermal resort, attracting visitors seeking health treatments and leisure.
Our Lady of Mount Caála - The work is the fulfillment of a promise made to God by a Catholic layman who had health problems. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount Caála, located on Mount Mbandjela, began construction in 1927. At the time, the area was overseen by Father Domingos Vieira Baião, a missionary of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit Fathers, who then resided at the Kuando Catholic Mission.
Cuando Reservoir - It is located within the territory of the Municipality of Huambo, about 20 km east of the municipal capital. Known as one of the main tourist destinations, it emerged after the construction of the hydroelectric dam on the Kuando River. Just a few meters away is the famous Kuando Catholic Mission. With a small beach on a plateau, the reservoir is the ideal place for those who want to stroll and take a swim, as it is ideal for swimming.
Church of the Kuando Catholic Mission - Leaving Caconda and heading north, after nearly 150 kilometers traveled, we reach the city of Huambo. If someone, fifteen years ago, traveling from Caconda to Bié, had heard that a city would be built in this place, they would hardly believe it. And yet today it is a fact. The place where the city is located is the watershed; from here some waters flow to the Atlantic and others to the great inland basins and to the Indian Ocean.
