History:

Easter originates from the Latin word Pascha, which comes from the Hebrew Pessach / Pesach, meaning "passover". This "passover" is described in the Old Testament as the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Easter was celebrated by the Jews to commemorate the freedom achieved by their people.
In the New Testament, Easter is the celebration of the passage from death to life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
According to the Christian calendar, Easter marks the end of the Holy Week. In Catholicism, the celebrations related to Easter start on "Holy Thursday" with the Mass of the Lord's Supper. Then, on "Good Friday," the crucifixion of Jesus is celebrated. Easter Sunday, which commemorates his resurrection and appearance to his disciples, concludes the Easter celebrations.
The date of Easter was established by decree of the First Council of Nicaea (325 A.D.), always to be celebrated on the Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere) and autumn equinox (in the Southern Hemisphere).

Symbols of Easter
